Diagnostic, repair & equipment condition policy
Diagnostic assessments
Central KY Small Engine performs diagnostics and makes repair recommendations based on the equipment's condition, symptoms, testing results, and information reasonably available at the time of service. A diagnostic assessment or repair recommendation is a professional opinion and does not guarantee that another technician, repair facility, or equipment owner will reach the same conclusion or use the same repair method.
Seized, corroded, damaged or unserviceable components
Older equipment may contain seized, rusted, corroded, previously damaged, or otherwise difficult-to-remove components. Central KY Small Engine may decline to continue a repair when further disassembly, heat, force, cutting, prying, or other removal methods could reasonably risk damage to the engine, crankshaft, seals, transmission, frame, wiring, or other components.
Stopping a repair under these circumstances does not mean that repair is physically impossible. It means that Central KY Small Engine has determined that continuing the repair using reasonable service methods presents an unacceptable risk of additional damage or expense.
Repair vs. replacement recommendations
When requested, Central KY Small Engine may provide an opinion regarding whether continued repair appears economically reasonable based on factors including equipment age, condition, estimated repair costs, parts availability, and apparent value.
Recommendations to repair, replace, sell, trade, or retire equipment are advisory only. The equipment owner remains solely responsible for deciding whether to repair, retain, sell, trade, scrap, or otherwise dispose of the equipment and for determining or accepting any sale or purchase price.
No guarantee of economic repairability
A recommendation that Central KY Small Engine does not advise continuing a repair does not represent a guarantee that the equipment cannot be repaired by another person using different methods, equipment, parts, or accepting different levels of risk or expense.
Attempted repairs & charges
Diagnostic time, labor, service calls, parts, and other expenses incurred while attempting a repair may remain chargeable even when the repair cannot be completed. Charges will be based on the customer's authorized work and Central KY Small Engine's applicable rates and policies.
